Dr. William C. Bond

The US Department of Transportation (DOT) oversees this medical program for approving commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) and certified medical examiners (CME).

Dr. William C. Bond is an FMCSA certified medical examiner (CME), who completed the required training and passed the federal examination. He has extensive experience working with professionals and completing government mandated examinations.

Exam Components

All DOT exams cover the basics of a standard physical

• Medical history questions

• Hearing and vision tests

• Blood pressure and respiratory exam

• Urinalysis

• Musculoskeletal check

Preparing for the Exam

Here is what you will need to complete your certification

  • Driver’s License
  • Corrective lenses (Glasses or contacts) if used
  • Medication List
  • Sleep apnea patients using CPAP should bring their compliance report proving you are using your machine and obtaining desired results. Your CPAP supplier or sleep medicine doctor should help with this report.
  • Drink plenty of water before your visit
    • Because a urinalysis is a required component of the examination drink enough water before your appointment.
  • Ensure your blood pressure is LESS than 140 over 90. Uncontrolled, previously diagnosed high blood pressure is an immediate fail; the first time you have high blood pressure you may receive a 3-12 month grace period extension but thereafter high blood pressure will cause you to LOSE your CDL.
